Shake, Rattle & Roll

"I felt the earth move.....under my feet.....I felt the sky a tumblin', tumblin' down......"

All right - enough of the tunes, but we did have an earthquake tonight that had us getting up as if we were struck with a taser gun on our back sides!!! It was initially reported at a 5.0, with the epicenter just north of us by about 20 miles, but later downgraded following some aftershocks to a 4.5. Who needs numbers, though.

Shar ran for a doorway, Digby and Prinnie barked and cried. All very responsible or at least reasonable responses. The first thing I did when I popped up from our comfy couch was to run to the TV as if to hold it from tipping over! Our neighbors called to see if we were ok, (something we all do anytime we have a quake - neighborhood check-in) and when I told them that I was poised in front of the TV, they gently reminded me of my weight limitations, and asked me what on earth I was thinking to assume that I could hold up a large TV while being not far out of surgery.

My response? "Oh crap, I didn't even think about that!" Brilliant - just brilliant!!!

Kim, Kim, Kim the TV??? The dogs were barking because they were saying "Mommy, don't you think you should grab me and not the TV?"
One way to avoid all of that is to move where the earth doesn't shake, rattle and roll like the lovely Pocono Mountains!

Right on Kitty!!!! Beautiful scenery in the fall and winter and gorgeous cold and snowy days. Nothing like it. Clears your lungs right up. And no temperatures in the summer in the 100's. Yikes!!

You should have a camera mounted somewhere that is on you two all of the time to record your antics. It could be made into a movie and you would be so rich. I experienced one earthquake and that was quite enough for me.

You better take it very easy today after all of your excitement yesterday.

Hey you two...we have a better idea! Why don't you move here to sunny California?? Ocean, beautiful weather, real freeways, and just a sporatic earthquake and a few wild fires here and there!!!! Beats the ice, slush and rain any day!!!

What you need is a seismic safety net that falls from the ceiling and protects the TV during these moments...that way you could focus on saving the really important stuff like the dog treats! Glad all are well.

Prinnie, I am still sneezing a bit but I am feeling much better. Lying in the sun on the deck has helped bake the cold germs out of me, I think.
